The Craft of Beer & Brewing
Instructor Charlie Papazian returns to Whitehead Light Station in 2012 to embark on a fourth season of his very popular beer and brewing course, newly titled The Craft of Beer & Brewing. Charlie will discuss beer and brewing and his own remarkable journey, teach program participants about brewing beer, tasting beer, cooking with beer, the history of beer, and simply enjoying beer. The five-night, six-day course (four full days on the island with days one and six being arrival and departure days) will include demonstrations, lectures, informal socializing, great meals, a huge variety of beers, a journey to nearby Maine breweries, and, as is true for all Whitehead Light Station courses, plenty of time to relax, read, and enjoy being unplugged and unhurried. Most organized activities will be in the mornings or around dinnertime. You do not have to be a devoted homebrewer to enjoy the course. There will be a maximum of 12 course participants. Instructor Profile: Charlie Papazian
Charlie Papazian is one of the most prominent and recognized names in the world of beer and brewing. His published commentaries provide insights into the industry, advice to homebrewers, and beer perspectives for beer drinkers. Since founding the American Homebrewers Association and Association of Brewers in 1978, he has helped guide the development of the microbrew industry and spark the resurgence of homebrewing in America and beyond. He is the founding publisher of and a regular contributor to Zymurgy (the magazine for homebrewers) and The New Brewer (the magazine for small, professional craft brewers).
He is currently the President of the Brewers Association, whose activities include:

In his worldwide travels, Charlie has been both lecturer and presenter at

the AHA National Conference, the National Craft Brewers Conference, and
