Tuition and Policies

Payment Terms

A deposit of $500 is due with your registration form. The balance of tuition, food & lodging is due 60 days before the start of your course. If you enroll within 60 days of the commencement of the course, full payment is due upon registration. No allowance or reduction will be made for late arrival or early departure without the director's prior consent.

If you have to cancel your registration more than 60 days before the start of the course, the balance of any payments already made will be refunded to you, minus a $200 processing fee. If you cancel less than 60 days before the start of the course, tuition (minus a $200 processing fee) will be refunded only if we are able to fill your slot in the course.

Please note that there is a minimum of 10 registrants required for a course. In the event that a course does not have enough registrants to be held, any balance paid will be refunded in full.

Medical Care

At least one Whitehead Light Station staff member will have Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness First Responder or EMT certification. Routine first aid provided by this or staff member is included in the tuition. In the event of more serious injury or illness, Whitehead Light Station staff will provide transportation to the mainland and then to Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockland, or will engage ambulance care on the mainland or emergency evacuation services if the situation warrants it. All expenses for outside medical care are the responsibility of the program participant.

Acknowledgement of Risk

Participants acknowledge that the Whitehead Light Station program takes place in a remote setting and that there is a risk of serious physical injury inherent in participation in programs in such settings.

Images

Participants give Whitehead Light Station and Pine Island Camp permission to copyright or publish photographs, movies, videos, letters or tape recordings of program participants and to use those images in program publications, promotional materials, and website. Participants will not be identified by name on the website or in the brochure.
